Job summary

SER Limited in the North West is seeking a Senior Planner Civil Engineering to own and develop project programmes across multiple schemes. The role is office-based with flexibility to attend sites, and you will work closely with operational and commercial teams to translate methods into practical schedules.

You will lead planning activities, identify risks and opportunities, support recovery plans, and mentor a future planner as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Strong planning experience within civil engineering.
• Experience with NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.
• Understanding of construction sequencing and delivery.

Senior Planner Civil Engineering

North West £65,000 £85,000 + car or car allowance + benefits

An established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Planner to support its project delivery and continued growth across the North West.

This is an office-based position with flexibility to attend sites, offering the opportunity to take ownership of planning and help develop the planning team. An immediate start is available.

The role

• Develop, maintain and monitor project programmes, working closely with operational and commercial teams.

• Translate construction methods and site requirements into practical, achievable programmes.

• Identify programme risks, delays and opportunities, supporting mitigation and recovery plans.

• Provide clear progress updates and planning input throughout project delivery.

• Support upcoming AMP8 works for United Utilities under NEC4, due to start in early spring 2027.

What we re looking for

• Strong planning experience within civil engineering.

• Ideally, experience in reinforced concrete, structures or comparable civils packages.

• A practical understanding of construction sequencing and delivery.

• Experience working on NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.

• Confidence working with site teams, commercial teams and senior management.

Opportunity to build your team

Within approximately six months, you ll have the opportunity to help recruit an additional Planner, with input into selecting your own team member. You ll then mentor and develop them, with the new Planner reporting to you.

• £65,000 £85,000 salary, depending on experience, qualifications and the scale and value of projects delivered.
