Title: Senior Planner

Location: Cheshire (hybrid)

Salary: £70-85,000 + package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer, or an ambitious Planner ready to take the next step in their career, to join a leading UK contractor on a major £500m infrastructure project in Cheshire.

This is a key appointment within the project team, with responsibility for overseeing the planning function and working closely with the Project Manager and site delivery team to drive successful project delivery. You'll take ownership of the construction programme, providing detailed planning support, monitoring progress and ensuring the project remains on track against key milestones.

The successful candidate will have a strong civil engineering and infrastructure background, ideally gained within a UK main contracting environment. You'll be an advanced user of Primavera P6, with the ability to develop, manage and analyse complex construction programmes. A strong working knowledge of NEC contracts is also essential, with the confidence to provide planning input into programme changes, risk, compensation events and wider contractual matters.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planner looking to step into a more senior position and take ownership of the planning function on a major infrastructure scheme. You'll be joining an established contractor with an impressive portfolio of complex projects and working alongside an experienced project and site team.

The position also offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week on site in Cheshire and the remainder working remotely, providing a strong balance between project involvement and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the planning function on the £500m infrastructure project.
• Develop, manage and maintain the project programme using Primavera P6.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager and wider delivery team.
• Monitor progress against key milestones and the critical path.
• Produce programme updates, progress reports and detailed programme analysis.
• Ensure programme requirements are aligned with contractual obligations.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, construction, commercial and design teams.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Planning Engineer / Senior Planner, or an experienced Planner ready to step up.
• Strong background in civil engineering and major infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within a UK main contracting environment.
• Advanced Primavera P6 skills.
• Strong working knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts.
• Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and critical path analysis.
• Confident working alongside Project Managers and senior site teams.
• Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and influence project delivery.
• Relevant civil engineering, construction or planning qualification desirable.
