Job summary

Senior Piling Engineer/Project Engineer

Location: Lower Thames Crossing, UK

Sector: Major Infrastructure/Civil Engineering

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Piling Engineer/Project Engineer to join a major ground engineering operation on the Lower Thames Crossing.

This is an opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, a landmark development involving a 14-mile road connection and what is set to become the UK's longest road tunnel.

With approximately five years of project activity ahead and an extraordinary piling operation involving around 52,000 piles, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work at the forefront of major infrastructure and specialist geotechnical construction.

As Senior Piling Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the engineering delivery of a range of specialist piling and ground engineering activities.

Working closely with site management, engineering teams and specialist subcontractors, you will help ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating day-to-day piling engineering activities.
• Supporting the delivery of specialist piling and ground engineering operations.
• Overseeing engineering activities across CFA and rotary piling operations.
• Supporting diaphragm wall (D-Wall), cutter and soil mixing activities.
• Reviewing and implementing engineering drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Coordinating setting out, quality assurance and technical inspections.
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential engineering challenges.
• Working closely with construction management and subcontractor teams.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

We are looking to speak with engineers who have a strong background in piling and specialist ground engineering.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in a Senior Piling Engineer, Project Engineer or similar position.
• A strong understanding of specialist piling techniques and construction methodologies.
• Experience with CFA and rotary piling.
• Exposure to diaphragm walls, cutter soil mixing and deep soil mixing would be advantageous.
• Experience working on major civil engineering, infrastructure or geotechnical projects.
• Good technical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to coordinate site teams and manage engineering deliverables.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
