Job summary

Millbank Holdings Ltd is seeking an experienced Contracts Engineer to drive piling and ground engineering projects from planning through site delivery across the UK. You will coordinate design, planning and construction activities, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery.

The role requires strong communication, site assessment skills and the ability to manage risks and stakeholders. Candidates with SSSTS/SMSTS, CSCS, and a background in civil engineering are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Good commercial awareness and cost control understanding.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage piling and ground engineering elements across planning, design coordination and construction phases.
• Develop, review and manage project plans, specifications, construction drawings and delivery documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, site teams and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and regulations.
• Identify, manage and mitigate project risks throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors to optimise resource planning and project performance.
• Prepare and manage statements, risk assessments, ITPs, Work Package Plans and associated documentation.
• Support project planning and scheduling, monitor progress and recommend corrective actions where required.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Engineer to support the successful delivery of piling and ground engineering projects across the UK. The role will focus on planning, design coordination and project delivery, ensuring complex civil engineering works are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality. You will play a key role in delivering innovative ground engineering solutions on major infrastructure and construction projects.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Lead and manage piling and ground engineering elements across planning, design coordination and construction phases.
• Develop, review and manage project plans, specifications, construction drawings and delivery documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, site teams and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and regulations.
• Ensure engineering and construction activities align with industry standards and best practice.
• Identify, manage and mitigate project risks throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors to optimise resource planning and project performance.
• Ensure works comply with contractual obligations, design requirements and project management plans.
• Prepare and manage statements, risk assessments, ITPs, Work Package Plans and associated documentation.
• Support project planning and scheduling, monitor progress and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Promote strong Health, Safety and Environmental standards across all activities.
• Maintain accurate project records, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals and handover information.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

• Experience within the construction industry, ideally in civil engineering, piling or ground engineering.
• Experience supporting the delivery of civil engineering contracts across a variety of project types.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead, coordinate and influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of cost control.
• Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
• Valid CSCS card.

It's great if you also have the following

• Experience working for a piling, ground engineering or civil engineering subcontractor.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

The setting for the role

This position sits within a specialist ground engineering business delivering piling and geotechnical solutions across major infrastructure and building projects throughout the UK. Projects range from large-scale transport and infrastructure developments through to complex commercial and urban construction schemes.
