Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support the Homecare Team and procurement functions. The role involves day-to-day management, governance, and staff training to ensure safe, timely medicines delivery and efficient procurement processes.

You will provide dispensary support, assist wards with medication preparation, order accuracy, and help maintain drug files and supplier data in the pharmacy system. Weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Be a qualified Pharmacy Technician to NVQ Level 3, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent.
• Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Hold National Accredited Pharmacy Checking Technician (ACPT) accreditation.
• Have recent experience within hospital pharmacy.
• Knowledge of MHRA Good Distribution Practice requirements and the Falsified Medicines Directive.
• Experience with ward storage audits and achieving CQC compliance.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate day-to-day workload of the pharmacy homecare and procurement teams.
• Supervise the homecare team and implement new processes.
• Support procurement and homecare invoicing and supplier liaison.
• Provide training and staff development within pharmacy teams.
• Assist in recruitment and respond to non-routine enquiries with accuracy and problem solving.
