Senior Pharmacy Technician

Salary: Up to GBP27,100.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy Department.

This is a part-time role for 12 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

1. Provide a high standard of technical support in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medicines across inpatient, outpatient, and theatre areas.
2. Support ward-based services such as stock top-ups, medicines reconciliation, and discharge preparation.
3. Assist pharmacists in ensuring safe and effective use of medicines in line with clinical protocols and policies.
4. Oversee the daily work of pharmacy technicians, assistants, and trainees, supporting task allocation and workflow management.
5. Act as a role model and first point of contact for technical queries and day-to-day problem solving.
6. Support the induction, training, and competency development of junior team members.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
2. Significant experience in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy setting.
3. Strong knowledge of medicines management, stock control, and technical pharmacy services.
4. Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
5. Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff effectively.
