An opportunity has arisen for the pharmacy department to employ a number of new Pharmacy Assistants in the Aseptic Department. The Aseptic team manufacture sterile medicines within a clean room environment for hospital patients, treatments made include chemotherapy, antibiotics, IV nutrition and radiopharmaceuticals
You must be an excellent communicator with outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills. You will need to be forward thinking and enthusiastic, with a commitment to continuing professional development. BTHFT is a teaching hospital and Pharmacy demonstrate a significant commitment to training; the successful candidate can expect a supportive training programme and will also be expected to participate in supporting and training other staff as appropriate.
This is a potential training post so no experience necessary, however the successful candidate will be required to undertake training to NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services before being put onto the full band 3 payscale, and you should have a good basic level of education and English language skills.If you already possess an NVQ 2 in pharmacy services you will start on the band 3 payscale.
The day to day job will include making pharmaceutical products, including radiopharmaceuticals, following defined procedures and processes. The role will also involve cleaning the pharmaceutical cleanrooms to GMP standards, ordering and receiving stock, management of equipment and maintaining a high standard of documentation and records.
The ideal candidate will need to be dedicated and hardworking, and have a willingness to be flexible when necessary. As a consequence of the often pressured working environment, there is a strong management focus on staff wellbeing, flexible working and support within the team, the outcome being that the team is highly-functioning, fun, friendly and supportive of all colleagues.
There are multiple posts advertised, both full-time and part-time, usual working hours are Monday-Friday, between 7am and 6.30pm but successful candidates can be required to undertake rotational work in the radiopharmacy department, where work commences at 6.30am. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate on the weekend working rota.
Working hours for these posts can be discussed at interview, the management team are willing to be flexible in order to suit both the needs of the department and successful candidates.
