Job summary

Howden is seeking a Senior Pension Administrator to join our growing pension administration team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is based in either Liverpool or Leeds with a hybrid working pattern.

You will have in-depth knowledge of DB and DC occupational pension schemes and a clear understanding of PPF operations. You will be responsible for complex calculations, benefit payments, and liaising with regulatory authorities as part of a flexible, growth-focused team.

Qualifications

• In depth knowledge of both DB and DC occupational pension schemes.
• Understanding of PPF operations and compensation types.
• Experience with PPF assessment periods and related projects.

Responsibilities

• Understand trust deeds and rules for each scheme.
• Perform complex benefit calculations and handle pension queries.
• Check accuracy against scheme rules and procedures; ensure compliance.
• Authorize benefit payments and payroll-related tasks.
• Communicate with authorities (DWP, HMRC, Pensions Regulator).
• Monitor cashflow needs and investments/disinvestments.
• Support team leader and train junior staff.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Pension Administrator to join our growing team. This is a permanent, full time role that can be based in our Liverpool or Leeds office, working on a hybrid basis.

Responsibilities:

• Has a thorough understanding of the trust deed and rules for each scheme
• Carries out complex benefit calculations and tasks and deals with more complex pension queries
• Checks work of other team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with scheme rules, internal procedures and controls and legislation
• Authorises benefit payments
• Checks pensioner payrolls, including calculation of net pay, arranges payments and preparation of year end returns
• Liaises with authorities including DWP, HMRC, The Pensions Regulator and the Information Commissioner
• Monitors scheme cashflow requirements and arranges investments / disinvestments as required
• Supporting team leader and training junior team members

• Has a clear understanding of how the PPF operates and the nature and type of compensation
• Has a thorough understanding of the stages involved and projects to be completed in relation to the PPF assessment period
