Job summary
AtkinsRéalis in the UK is seeking a Senior or Principal Peat Scientist to lead peat surveys and develop sustainable management strategies across major infrastructure projects. Based in Scotland, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver technical excellence and client-focused solutions.
You will mentor junior staff, prepare proposals, and travel across the UK for field work, with full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant science subject (peat/soil or environmental science).
- Post-graduate experience in peat/soil science.
- Full or Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body; progression toward chartered status.
- Proven track record in peat surveys, peat landscapes, and peat hydrology.
- Knowledge of peat management/restoration, legislation, and best practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery of peat surveys and development of sustainable management strategies.
- Support and lead on client work development, proposals, and bids for infrastructure projects.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, sub-contractors, and internal teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
- Travel within the UK for field work as required.
