Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK is seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer (PCB Design) to join our team delivering complex electronic hardware for life sciences and pharmaceutical projects. The role requires leading PCB development, collaborating with manufacturers, and ensuring compliance with CE/IEC standards in a regulated environment.

Based near Portsmouth or willing to relocate, the role is long-term with no travel coverage.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electronic circuit design and PCB-based product development.
• Ability to lead PCB development from concept through design verification to manufacture.
• Experience delivering PCB designs through prototype, testing, validation and release.
• Strong knowledge of component selection, circuit analysis and power calculations.
• Experience with PCB manufacturers and external development partners.
• Familiarity with IEC 61010, IEC 60204-1, IEC 61326-1, RED and CE certifications.
• Experience in regulated environments (life sciences, pharma, or medical devices).
• Knowledge of GAMP5 and validation processes.
• Excellent English communication with cross-functional teams.
• Willing to reside in/near Portsmouth with no travel expense coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of PCB-based electronic systems from concept to verified prototype.
• Develop electronic circuits including component selection and power calculations.
• Evaluate PCB architectures to meet project and operational needs.
• Collaborate with PCB design and manufacturing partners for feasibility and manufacturability.
• Manage external PCB design and manufacturing partners and ensure on-time delivery.
• Define and execute verification and testing to meet project requirements.
• Support product compliance activities to meet CE, IEC and related standards.
• Contribute to risk assessments and verification/validation in a regulated environment.
