Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Payroll Manager on a 9-month fixed-term contract in Birmingham city centre. The role is hybrid, with four days in the office and one day at home, offering £44,700 per annum.

You will oversee a high-volume UK payroll, lead a small team of around three payroll professionals, and ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery to strict deadlines. iTrent experience is essential, alongside strong Excel and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' payroll management experience in a medium-to-large UK organisation.
• Strong end-to-end UK payroll knowledge including PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP.
• Experience managing and developing a payroll team.
• Experience with iTrent or similar payroll systems is essential.
• Experience with payroll systems improvements, implementations or upgrades is advantageous.
• Strong payroll reconciliations, reporting and audit knowledge.
• Good Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident managing stakeholders and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end, high-volume UK payroll processing.
• Lead, support and develop a team of approximately 3 payroll professionals.
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pensions.
• Manage payroll reconciliations, journals, gross-to-net reporting and year-end processes.
• Oversee payroll controls, audits and reporting requirements.
• Manage payroll systems, upgrades and process improvements.
• Monitor overpayments, underpayments and payroll discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Finance and HR to resolve complex payroll queries.
• Maintain accurate payroll procedures and meet deadlines.
