Job summary

Marks Sattin is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and oversee payroll operations in the United Kingdom. You will ensure timely, accurate payments and compliance with legislation, while developing the payroll team and acting as the main contact for payroll systems and reporting.

You will work closely with HR on starters, leavers, changes and data integrity, and provide expert advice on PAYE, NIC, pensions and statutory payments. A proactive approach to process improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong payroll knowledge including PAYE, NIC, pensions and year-end processes.
• Advanced Excel skills for reporting and data manipulation.
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS implementations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across HR, finance and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processes ensuring accuracy and on-time payments.
• Manage and develop the payroll team, monitoring workloads and performance.
• Collaborate with HR on starters, leavers, absences and pay changes.
• Maintain payroll policies, procedures and system effectiveness.
• Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, PAYE, pensions and statutory payments.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations, reporting and analysis for senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement across payroll systems, processes and controls.
• Liaise with employees, HMRC, auditors and external stakeholders.
• Support pension administration, audits and compliance activities.
• Promote health, safety, quality standards and company values.
