Job summary

Marks Sattin (UK) Ltd is pleased to be supporting a longstanding business in recruiting a Payroll Team Leader on an 18-month FTC basis. The role oversees weekly and monthly payroll processing, leading a small team and driving improvements.

You will ensure PAYE/National Insurance compliance, manage system upgrades, and collaborate with the Group Payroll Manager on ad hoc projects. Experience with MHR iTrent or IRIS Cascade is highly desirable; CIPP qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing payroll teams.
• 5+ years payroll experience, ideally within retail or manufacturing environments.
• CIPP qualification desirable.
• Experience using MHR iTrent and IRIS Cascade is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate and timely processing of all weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring completion of all associated payments.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the payroll team, allocating resources effectively to meet business needs.
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains across payroll systems and workflows.
• Maintain expert knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, pensions legislation, and ensure all payroll activity adheres to statutory requirements.
• Lead and develop payroll administrators, supporting performance across weekly and monthly cycles.
• Take ownership of payroll system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new functionality.
• Provide support to the Group Payroll Manager on ad hoc projects, audits, and business initiatives.
