Job description

Senior Payroll and Benefits Manager (12m FTC)

London

Ready to revolutionize healthcare, making it faster and more accessible than ever before?

About the Role

HeliosX is searching for a Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager who will be the beating heart of our employee experience when it comes to payroll and benefits. This is more than just a payroll role - you’ll be driving global payroll harmonisation, ensuring compliance across borders, and delivering a seamless and rewarding employee experience.

With our payroll providers (Moorepay in the UK, Gusto in the US) and BambooHR as our HRIS, you’ll set the stage for managing multi-country payrolls as we expand further. You’ll also have experience integrating payroll provisions through an HRIS (e.g., BambooHR, Workday, Oracle) to streamline and enhance processes. Reporting into the Global Director of People Operations, this is a key hire for our business - one that will shape the future of payroll and benefits at HeliosX while helping us scale smarter and faster.

This is a full time, 12m fixed term role, with potential for the contract to be extended or converted into a permanent role. The position is based out of our Central London HQ and you will be expected on site one to two days per week.

What you'll do

Global Payroll Leadership

  • Manage and harmonise payroll across all current and future markets, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with global payroll and tax regulations
  • Optimise our partnerships with Moorepay (UK) and Gusto (US) while designing scalable solutions for new countries
  • Integrate payroll provisions with BambooHR, driving automation and accuracy while streamlining manual workflows
  • Lead initiatives to implement payroll processes through advanced HRIS platforms, ensuring smooth, scalable operations

Employee Benefits Strategy

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all employee payroll and benefits queries, delivering a world-class employee experience
  • Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive rates and innovative benefits that support our employees globally
  • Continuously review and enhance our benefits offerings, ensuring alignment with our growth and employee needs

Compliance and Best Practice

  • Ensure all payroll and benefits processes adhere to global tax laws, statutory regulations, and company policies
  • Develop and maintain accurate payroll and benefits records to meet audit requirements
  • Stay ahead of global compliance trends, minimising risk and ensuring operational excellence

Collaboration and Strategy

  • Partner with the People Operations team to align payroll and benefits with our global people strategy
  • Drive key initiatives to ensure our payroll systems and benefits packages scale as we grow
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing insights into payroll and benefits data to support decision-making

What you'll bring to HeliosX

  • Experience: You bring extensive experience in payroll and benefits, with proven expertise in managing multi-country payrolls and ensuring global compliance
  • HRIS Expertise: You’ve worked with HRIS platforms (e.g., BambooHR, Workday, Oracle) and have successfully implemented payroll provisions through these systems
  • Commercial Mindset: You’re a strategic thinker who understands the impact of payroll and benefits on business success. You’ve successfully negotiated rates and driven cost efficiencies without compromising employee satisfaction
  • Tech-Savvy: You have hands-on experience with leading payroll providers (bonus if you know Moorepay and Gusto) and thrive on improving and automating processes
  • Employee-Centric: You love delivering exceptional service and solving problems, making you a trusted go-to for employees
  • Global Compliance Guru: You’re up-to-date on global payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices
  • Collaborative Leader: You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and know how to align people, processes, and systems to achieve big goals
  • Stand-alone: You’ve operated in a pressurised environment in a hands-on, stand alone role
  • Equity Schemes: You have had experience operating various equity schemes at varying levels across an organisation.
