Job summary

Adaptable Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Payroll Advisor for a well known charity in Liverpool. The role offers a permanent contract, hybrid working from Chorley or Huyton, and a salary of £32,000-£35,000 with support towards CIPP Level 5.

You will own the payroll function across multiple locations, liaise with an outsourced provider, ensure accurate data, and drive process improvements within the HR Operations team.

Qualifications

• Significant payroll experience.
• CIPP qualified, or working towards Level 5, with our support.
• Confident processing accurate data and managing validations independently.
• Strong relationship-building skills, comfortable managing outsourced provider relationships.
• Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Strong Excel and payroll systems skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the coordination of weekly and monthly payroll submissions across multiple locations.
• Act as the primary liaison between Best Lives and the outsourced payroll provider (RSM).
• Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete and submitted within deadlines.
• Review payroll information and resolve discrepancies or queries promptly.
• Process payroll adjustments, advances and off-cycle payments.
• Manage employee payroll queries with timely responses.
• Complete year-end activities and support HMRC and pension submissions.
• Produce payroll reports and management information as required.
• Build collaborative relationships with managers and HR Operations.
• Identify and lead improvements to payroll processes, systems and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete and submitted within agreed deadlines
• Review payroll information and resolve discrepancies or queries promptly
• Process payroll adjustments, advances and off-cycle payments
• Manage employee payroll queries with clear, timely responses
• Complete year-end activities and support statutory submissions to HMRC and pension providers
• Produce payroll reports and management information as required
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with managers, colleagues in HR Operations, and Payroll Provider
• Identify and lead improvements to payroll processes, systems and service

About You

• Significant payroll experience - you know the job and want to put that experience to work
• CIPP qualified, or working towards Level 5, or open to studying towards it with our support
• Confident processing accurate data and managing validations independently
• Strong relationship-building skills, comfortable managing an outsourced provider relationship and working closely with internal colleagues
• Sound working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Strong Excel and payroll systems skills
• Naturally focused on improving processes, efficiency and service, not just maintaining them
