Job summary

Transak in the United Kingdom is hiring a senior Software Engineer (SDE 3) to own payments microservices end-to-end, designing, building, and operating real-money transactions across currencies, with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and regulatory alignment.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, collaborate with Risk and Product teams, build CI/CD pipelines, and ensure secure handling of financial data in a PCI-adjacent environment while staying hands-on in code daily.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with backend/distributed systems focus
• Experience in fintech/payments or banking infrastructure preferred
• Strong Node.js (TypeScript preferred) for backend services
• Deep MongoDB expertise: schema design, indexing, performance
• Redis for caching, rate limiting, pub/sub patterns
• Experience designing/operating microservices with REST/gRPC/SQS/Kafka
• CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, pipelines-as-code
• AWS infrastructure knowledge: ECS/EKS/Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch

Responsibilities

• Own payment microservices end-to-end—design, build, deploy, operate real-time transactions at scale
• Drive banking/partner integrations and reconciliation across rails
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and production-grade infrastructure on AWS
• Operate and optimize the data layer with MongoDB and Redis
• Lead technical roadmaps, write design docs, and mentor engineers
• Uphold security/compliance for handling financial data in a regulated environment
