Job summary

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading is seeking a senior patient safety leader to promote a safety and quality culture across maternity, gynaecology, neonatal and paediatric services.

You will lead governance, drive incident reviews, coordinate investigations, and ensure alignment with PSIRF and local policies.

The role involves collaboration with management teams, supporting midwifery staff, and participating in mortality reviews to improve care.

Qualifications

• Experience leading patient safety governance across maternity and children’s services.
• Proven ability to coordinate investigations and incident responses.
• Familiarity with PSIRF framework and trust policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Maternity, Gynaecology, Neonatal and Paediatrics patient safety agenda.
• Ensure unified review of incidents across the service in line with policies.
• Lead the Patient Safety Team within PSIRF requirements.
• Act as single point of contact with Maternity & Neonatal Safety Investigations (MNSI).
• Participate in Perinatal Mortality Reporting Tool Group and attend meetings.
• Liaise with Professional Midwifery Advocates to support staff involved in incidents.
