Job summary

HCA UK is seeking a Senior Patient Access Officer to join the Elstree Outpatient Centre team on a temporary contract until 30 June 2027. You will supervise day-to-day Patient Access operations, ensure high standards of admin and patient service, and support the Patient Access Leader in developing a responsive service.

The role requires prior patient access and supervisory experience, strong numeracy and communication skills, IT literacy, and a valid UK driving licence for site travel.

  • Previous experience in a patient access or similar role is essential.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills; IT literate.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all administrative functions are carried out to the highest standard.
  • Ensure teams are equipped and supplies are maintained.
  • Ensure patients meet the HCA criteria for settlement ( Sponsored or Self-funded ).
  • Seek guidance from PAL/PAM on complex queries.
  • Manage patient waiting areas for smooth service delivery.
  • Assist with rota management to cover shifts.
  • Take on supervisory tasks and deputise for PAL as required.

**Senior Patient Access Officer** **London:** Elstree waterfront Outpatients, The Wellington Hospital **Full time:** 37.5hrs per week **Shift times:** Unit is open Mon- Sat 8am-8pm (Availability & Flexibility required to work various shifts during these times) **Temporary contract until 30th June 2027** **\\*Please note that this role is based at a location that is not accessible by public transport. Applicants will therefore need access to a car and a valid driving licence to travel to the site.** We’re looking for a Senior Patient Access Officer to join our Patient Access team on a temporary contract until 30th June 2027 based at Elstree Outpatient Centre, The Wellington Hospital. As a Senior Patient Access Officer, you will assist the Patient Access Leader in the management and progressive development of a high quality and customer responsive services offered by the Patient Access Department. As a Senior PAO, you will be responsible for providing hands on supervision for the day-to-day operational aspects of all functions within the team, to effectively communicate with appropriate instruction and guidance to colleagues at all times to ensure that the service delivered is always of an exemplary standard and meets with the expectations. **Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life.
