Taunton | £45,000–£50,000 | Hybrid working – 3 days office, 2 days remote
An established and highly regarded financial planning business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Paraplanner to join its team in Taunton.
This is a genuinely technical paraplanning position offering more than report writing and case administration. You will work closely with Financial Planners and other members of the client team, helping to develop effective financial planning strategies and ensuring clients receive clear, well‑researched and suitable advice.
The position would suit an experienced, Level 4 qualified Paraplanner who enjoys working on complex cases, contributing ideas and playing an active role in the advice process.
You will:
Work closely with Financial Planners to develop appropriate financial planning strategies
Produce clear, technically accurate and compliant suitability reports
Use cashflow modelling and scenario planning to illustrate different client outcomes
Undertake detailed research across pensions, investments, protection and tax planning
Review fact‑finds, risk profiles and supporting documentation, identifying any gaps before cases progress
Provide technical input and challenge recommendations where appropriate
Support more complex financial planning cases involving multiple areas of advice
Prepare the documentation required for new business and changes to existing arrangements
Liaise with clients, providers and colleagues to obtain information and resolve technical queries
Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure cases progress efficiently
Keep informed of relevant regulatory, taxation and product developments
Support less experienced colleagues and contribute to improvements across the paraplanning function
You will need:
Strong experience working as a Paraplanner within a financial planning or wealth management business
The CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, or an equivalent qualification
Good technical knowledge across pensions and investments
Experience producing detailed suitability reports and working on more complex advice cases
A clear understanding of FCA requirements and the importance of delivering good client outcomes
The ability to interpret complex information and communicate it clearly
Experience using financial planning software, cashflow modelling tools and CRM systems
Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing consistently high‑quality work
The confidence to question information, identify potential issues and contribute ideas
Progress towards Chartered status would be welcomed, although it is not essential.
Salary of £45,000–£50,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working with three days in the Taunton office and two days working remotely
Support with further professional qualifications and progression towards Chartered status
The opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting client cases
A collaborative working environment with experienced Financial Planners and Paraplanners
Genuine scope to influence the advice process rather than operating solely as a report writer
A comprehensive employee benefits package
Clear opportunities for continued professional development and career progression
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paraplanner who wants greater technical involvement, exposure to more sophisticated financial planning work and a long‑term career within a well‑established business.
