Job summary

The Best Connection is recruiting for a Senior Pallet Maker in Birmingham. This 12-week temporary-to-permanent role offers a salary of £14.50–£17.50 per hour (DOE) and shifts Monday to Thursday 07:00–16:00, Friday 07:00–15:00.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager to support the pallet department and help run day‑to‑day operations. Applicants should have pallet/manufacturing experience, strong leadership, excellent communication, and be flexible.

Qualifications

• Experience in pallet manufacturing, timber production, recycling or similar industrial setting.
• Strong leadership qualities with ability to support and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, repair and refurbish pallets to targets.
• Support pallet production team management.
• Ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
• Monitor productivity and quality, drive continuous improvement.
• Lead by example on the shop floor and promote safety.
• Operate FLT safely and effectively, following procedures.
• Support staff development and maintain high departmental standards.
• Assist Operations Manager for smooth operation.

The Best Connection are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing wood recycling and pallet manufacturing business based in Birmingham, for an experienced Senior Pallet Maker.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join a busy operation, working closely with the Operations Manager and supporting the day-to-day running of the pallet manufacturing department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manufacturing, repairing and refurbishing pallets
• Supporting the management of the pallet production team
• Ensuring production targets are achieved
• Monitoring quality standards and productivity levels
• Leading by example on the shop floor
• Operating FLT equipment safely and effectively
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
• Supporting staff development and maintaining high standards across the department
• Assisting the Operations Manager with the smooth running of the operation

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience within pallet manufacturing, timber production, recycling or a similar industrial environment
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to support and motivate a team

Candidates with a valid Counterbalance Licence but no Bucket Loader Licence will still be considered, as training can be provided for the right person.
