Job summary

The Portland Hospital for Women and Children in London seeks a Senior Play Specialist to lead therapeutic play for paediatric inpatients and outpatients. You will design play programmes, assess progress, and support the overall care plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

We value experienced Play Specialists ready to progress to a senior role, contribute to service development, and mentor junior colleagues while delivering compassionate, child-centred care.

Qualifications

• Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism or Level 4 Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People.
• Significant post-qualification experience working with children/young people in a hospital environment.
• Registered with HPSET.

Responsibilities

• Undertake therapeutic assessments and devise play programmes for children and young people in hospital as part of the care plan.
• Monitor, evaluate and modify therapeutic interventions to measure progress and ensure care plan effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet the overall care plan for children.
• Opportunity to progress into a senior position, building clinical expertise and mentoring juniors.
