Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Health Play Specialist to help children and young people cope with illness, procedures and hospital stays using therapeutic play and age-appropriate activities.

You will work closely with families and the multidisciplinary team to reduce anxiety, support development and promote emotional wellbeing, ensuring care is child-centred and compassionate.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of children’s issues and special needs.
• Ability to communicate with children and adolescents.
• Experience working in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic play and age-appropriate interventions to help children understand illness, procedures and hospital stays.
• Reduce anxiety and promote emotional wellbeing in children and young people.
