Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust invites applications for a whole-time Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The department comprises 11 Paediatric Anaesthetic Consultants and delivers specialist care across neonatal and paediatric services.

The post includes teaching, supervision of junior staff, and active involvement in audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highest clinical standards in paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia.
• Share responsibility for day-to-day patient management.
• Promote integrated care and partnership across the health community.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff.
• Contribute to teaching, research, audit and governance.
• Support service development and improvement.
• Participate in on-call rota (current 1:9.5).
• Collaborate with paediatric surgery, radiology, pain, pre-assessment and theatre teams.
