Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Health Care Support Worker for Outpatients to support the nursing team and doctors in patient care across our five sites. You will prepare clinics, assist in procedures, and ensure rooms and documentation are ready for clinicians.

Role includes chaperoning, direct care under supervision, and ensuring patient dignity at all times. A strong team player with good IT and communication skills is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• Care Certificate (level 1 equivalent).
• Literacy and numeracy functional skills level 2 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff and doctors with patient care, procedures and chaperoning.
• Prepare consulting rooms, ensure documentation is available and rooms are cleaned.
• Receive patients, provide information and maintain patient dignity under supervision.
• Maintain nursing records accurately and countersign by a registered nurse.
• Participate in infection prevention training and annual reviews.
