Job summary

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Emergency Department. The role focuses on admission avoidance, rapid assessment and safe discharge, with leadership across the Front Door Services and Falls & Frailty Response.

You will be a clinical specialist, managing a complex caseload, mentoring staff, and working in a proactive MDT with strong community links to maximise independence and safety at home.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registered.
• Post-graduate training/qualifications in frail elderly management and falls prevention.
• Experience teaching and presenting to staff and students.
• Experience supervising and developing other staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide OT clinical expertise in ED to support admission avoidance and timely discharge.
• Deliver Falls & Frailty Response service in the community with rapid intervention and referrals.
• Lead EDT team clinically and work with Front Door Operations leads.
• Apply advanced clinical reasoning to complex discharge planning and caseload management.
• Ensure high quality, effective therapy services at the hospital front door.
• Collaborate with South Central Ambulance Service on Falls & Frailty 12-hour shifts.
