Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the ESD/Community Stroke Team. The post focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation for stroke survivors in their homes and community settings.

You will perform specialist assessments, develop and implement rehabilitation plans, and work within an integrated MDT to maximise independence and safe discharge from hospital to community care.

Qualifications

• Specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation following stroke.
• Autonomous practice with professional accountability and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of adults with complex stroke-related needs in home and community settings.
• Provide specialist OT assessments and interventions to maximise independence.
• Supervise junior staff and contribute to service development within the community stroke rehab team.
• Deliver evidence-based stroke rehabilitation programmes and adapt equipment/home adaptations as required.
• Collaborate with the MDT and act as a fieldwork educator for OT students.
• Produce written clinical reports and maintain accurate patient records.
