Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Ornithologist to lead high‑impact surveys and advisory work across the UK, delivering robust ornithological guidance that informs planning and development.

You will manage multi‑season bird surveys, support Habitat Regulations work, review technical reports, and collaborate with planners, engineers and other specialists to integrate ecological outcomes into project delivery, while mentoring junior ecologists.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree and strong consultancy experience in ornithology.
• Membership of, or eligibility for, CIEEM; full UK driving licence and legal right to work in the UK.
• Proven track record of delivering multi‑season surveys and managing projects; additional species skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ornithological advice and project management within the national ecology team.
• Lead multi‑season bird surveys (winter, passage, breeding).
• Support Habitat Regulations work and review technical reports.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers and other specialists to integrate ecological outcomes into project delivery.
• Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to in‑house training.
