Job summary

CleanTech Talent is seeking a Senior Ecologist specializing in ornithology in Manchester. You will lead ornithology projects, mentor staff, and drive business development while collaborating across ecology, arboriculture, and landscape teams.

The role emphasizes client relationship building, project scoping, and ensuring high-quality deliverables within timelines. A UK driving licence and a professional pathway toward Chartership are valued.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
• Ideally a CIEEM member working towards Chartership.
• Ornithology specialty with breeding and non-breeding bird surveys for large sites.
• Stakeholder engagement with Natural England.
• Survey skills including extended Phase I/UKHabs.
• Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies and LPAs.
• Report writing and reviewing capabilities.
• Project management with mentoring and timely delivery.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead ecological surveys and assessments and manage projects.
• Scoping, designing, and overseeing multi-sector projects.
• Build and grow client relationships and opportunities.
• Collaborate cross-discipline in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor junior ecologists and foster a growth-focused culture.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
