Job summary

Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist to lead advanced organoid projects within the SCOP. You will develop complex 3D human models, including patient-derived and iPSC-derived organoids, and support cross-Crick collaborations.

You will train researchers, contribute to SOPs, and ensure high-quality, reproducible science while maintaining day-to-day stem cell operations in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Higher degree in a relevant field (PhD or MSc) with research experience in stem cell biology or organoid technologies.
• Extensive proficiency in developing, maintaining and troubleshooting complex organoid systems, including patient-derived organoids, iPSC-derived organoids, co-culture systems, spheroids, assembloids.
• Strong background in stem cell biology with hands-on culture of human pluripotent stem cells.
• Experience processing primary tissue samples such as tissue biopsies and blood.
• Strong knowledge of immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and imaging.
• Excellent attention to detail and collaborative working skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting researchers.

Responsibilities

• Leading organoid and stem cell projects across research and service activities within SCOP.
• Developing and optimising advanced 3D human models, including patient-derived and iPSC-derived organoids.
• Supporting quality control, troubleshooting and reproducibility of organoid workflows.
• Collaborating with research groups and other Science Technology Platforms across the Crick.
• Providing training, mentorship and technical guidance in organoid and stem cell techniques.
• Developing SOPs, project documentation and best-practice workflows.
• Supporting day-to-day laboratory operations and stem cell maintenance activities.
