Job summary

AVEVA is seeking a Senior Optimisation Developer in Cambridge, offering a hybrid working pattern. You will work on advanced optimisation technology to enhance refinery planning and operational efficiency, handling numerically intensive problems within an established codebase.

The role requires a strong mathematical background, a postgraduate qualification, and proven programming ability in languages such as C/C++.

Qualifications

Postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD, or equivalent).
Programming ability in at least one language (C++, C, C#, Fortran).
Experience in numerical modelling or mathematically intensive software development.
Ability to lead projects or workstreams, even without formal leadership experience.
Ability to work effectively in a complex evolving codebase.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with developers.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design, implementation, maintenance and improvement of industrial optimisation software and modelling components.
Investigate complex mathematical, algorithmic and software engineering problems and drive to resolution.
Take ownership of large or technically challenging work items with minimal supervision.
Work within legacy codebases while embracing thoughtful improvements.
Apply mathematical reasoning to modelling and optimization challenges.
Support robustness, performance, quality, and maintainability via testing.
