Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Malvern is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to design and develop advanced optical systems across a growing portfolio. You will collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers and engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, integrable and ready for real-world deployment.

You will mentor developing engineers, provide technical leadership across multiple projects and support manufacturing, testing and integration of optical products. SC clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Engineering, or related scientific field.
• Experience taking optical designs through manufacture.
• SC clearance eligibility or ability to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise advanced optical systems and assemblies.
• Develop optical models using Zemax OpticStudio and similar tools.
• Support manufacture, integration and testing of optical products.
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors to deliver optical hardware.
• Mentor and support the development of junior optical engineers.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering projects.
