Job summary

Redline Group Ltd is recruiting an Optical Systems Engineer / Senior Optical Systems Engineer for a leading photonics and precision technologies developer. The role spans Torquay, Southampton, and Northampton, joining a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, integrate, and validate complex optical and photonic systems.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Physics/Optics/Photonics or related field.
• Experience in optical, photonic, imaging, or laser systems.
• Strong knowledge of geometrical and physical optics.
• Experience with Zemax/Code V/FRED.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience in aerospace/defence or life sciences advantageous.
• Understanding of systems engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical and photonic systems.
• Translate customer requirements into specifications.
• Perform optical modelling, simulation, and tolerance analysis.
• Lead testing and integration of complex systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation and design reviews.
