Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery to join the Breast Unit. You will provide specialist care for benign and malignant breast disease, delivering oncoplastic procedures and leading cancer pathway activity.

You will contribute to service development, supervision of junior staff, and ongoing audit and governance, while promoting patient-centered care and a collaborative multidisciplinary approach.

Qualifications

• Advanced oncoplastic expertise in breast disease management.
• Experience in planning and delivering reconstruction following lumpectomy/mastectomy.
• Strong leadership and teaching abilities within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist oncoplastic breast surgery care including benign and malignant conditions.
• Deliver therapeutic mammoplasty and reconstructive procedures.
• Lead theatre lists, outpatient clinics, MDT meetings, and cancer pathway activity.
• Ensure high-quality clinical decision-making and safe management of complex cases.
• Organise and manage clinical workload to meet cancer waiting time standards.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement and innovation.
• Supervise and teach junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team.
• Apply evidence to practice and participate in audits and governance.
• Communicate clearly with patients, relatives, colleagues, and partners.
