Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery to join the Breast Unit and lead in theatre, clinics, and cancer pathway activity. The post requires senior clinical leadership and a commitment to continuous service improvement.

You will deliver advanced oncoplastic techniques, supervise junior staff, and contribute to education, research, and governance while maintaining compassionate patient care across the breast service.

Qualifications

• FRCS or equivalent Intercollegiate exam.
• GMC Specialist Register or eligible within 6 months of CCT.
• Postgraduate thesis.
• MD/MSc/MMEd.
• Completed fellowship in breast surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist oncoplastic breast surgery care, including assessment and management of benign and malignant conditions.
• Deliver oncoplastic procedures including therapeutic mammoplasty and reconstruction.
• Lead and participate in theatre lists, clinics, and cancer pathway activities.
• Ensure high standards of clinical decision-making and safe management of complex breast disease.
• Organise workload and support timely patient care and waiting time standards.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and governance.
