Exciting opportunity for a nursery chef!

Are you looking for your next step or do you currently hold a Level 2 Diploma in professional cookery (or equivalent)? If so, this might be the role for you.

Integra Education is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Nursery Chef for our client based in Leigh.

This role is 35 hours per week (8.30am to 4.30pm), Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.

Role responsibilities include:

• Planning seasonal menus and overseeing kitchen operations, equipment, food, and service preparation.
• Liaising with the Nursery Manager to ensure high standards of service that meet the needs of children.
• Monitoring and reviewing food quality and service, ensuring good quality products are delivered on time and within budget.
• Training, developing, managing, and motivating the catering team to ensure efficiency.
• Organising and supervising the nursery kitchen in accordance with statutory regulations, including Safer Food, Better Business Guidance.
• Visiting sister nursery settings in Leigh and Wigan monthly to ensure standardisation of hygiene, stock control, paperwork, and quality.
• Developing and overseeing allergy control processes, including paperwork, to prevent cross-contamination.
• Supporting wider catering teams within the charity to ensure smooth, high-quality services for families and children.

Ideal candidate qualifications and experience:

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or Level 2 Diploma in professional cookery (or equivalent) is essential.
• Food Safety Level 3 qualification is desirable.
• Understanding and experience of environmental health food hygiene inspections.
• Knowledge of Safer Food, Better Business Guidance.
• Ability to manage budgets and costs.
• Previous experience in a similar setting, with understanding of catering for small children.
