Job summary

Cygnet Sherwood Lodge in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Senior Nurse (RMN or RNLD) to join the team. You will work 42 hours per week across days, nights and alternate weekends, leading a team and delivering high-quality care to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

The role requires strong leadership, robust documentation, and adherence to NMC guidelines to support recovery and minimize risk; DBS check will be conducted as part of the process.

Qualifications

• RMN or RNLD with current NMC pin number and registered status.
• Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
• Experience in care for adults with learning disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead an allocated team of nurses & support workers.
• Ensure care and duties are allocated within team members’ competence.
• Supervise junior staff, teaching and guiding them.
• Work with management to develop the service, audit and improve quality.
• Safeguard and promote wellbeing of service users.
• Manage medication.
• Ensure that care plans are complete and maintained with professionals.
• Coordinate, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care programmes.

We are looking for an outstanding, compassionate and experienced Senior Nurse (RMN or RNLD) with a passion for delivering excellent care to join our team at Cygnet Sherwood Lodge. You’ll be working 42 hours per week, across days, nights and alternate weekends, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care.

At Cygnet Sherwood Lodge, we support 26 men with learning disabilities and associated complex needs who may also have behaviours that challenge.

When individuals come to Cygnet Sherwood Lodge they can often be mentally and emotionally unstable due to varying reasons. We believe that by creating a calm and inviting environment we can enhance a person’s progress and self-esteem to help them on their care pathway towards a less restrictive setting.

Your day-to-day…

• Lead an allocated team of nurses & support workers
• Ensure care & associated duties are allocated effectively & within team members’ competence
• Supervise junior staff &, leading by example, teach & guide them
• Work closely with the management team to develop the service, audit & improve quality
• Safeguard & promote the wellbeing of service users
• Manage medication
• Under NMC guidelines, ensure that individual care plans are complete & maintained collectively with service users, relatives & other healthcare professionals
• Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation & evaluation of individual patient programmes of care.

An experienced RMN or RNLD with a current Pin Number, you’ll have…

• The ability to maintain documentation, undertake audits & demonstrate integrity in your role Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 & an understanding of the latest nursing practices
