Main duties of the job

As a Senior Nurse for our overnight service, you will oversee and coordinate the provision of overnight care in the community, ensuring high standards of care and addressing safeguarding incidents. This predominantly managerial role involves managing a team of Healthcare Assistants, ensuring their development through supervision and quality review of clinical services. You will also participate in clinical governance activities, including audits and quality improvement initiatives, while maintaining effective communication with patients, families, carers, and the wider community. Additionally, you will be involved in the development and implementation of new initiatives and projects, contributing to a forward-thinking charity dedicated to innovative approaches to palliative care.

About us

Every day of your life matters - from the first to the last. When you work for Marie Curie, you understand that better than ever. We're a passionate, committed and diverse team of more than 4,400 staff and 12,000 volunteers, here for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. We offer expert care, guidance and support, to help them get the most from the time they have left.Everyone knows our daffodil, but it's our warmth, creativity and care that touch lives. Here, we take the time to really get to know the people we care for and those who love them. And we do whatever it takes to give them the final days and hours they deserve.

Job responsibilities

Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.

Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness theyre likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

We have two full-time vacancies for Senior Nurses to join our team in Devon. This is a homeworking role, with expectations to travel as the service requires, either within the community or to our offices in Tiverton, and will require you to have provisions in place to work effectively.

As a Senior Nurse for our overnight service, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the overnight care provided in the community. We are looking for someone who is passionate about innovative approaches to palliative care and eager to contribute to new and exciting projects within a forward-thinking charity.
