Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Clinical Scientist in the Non-ionising Radiation Physics Section at Poole Hospital. You will support QA and optimisation of NIR equipment and act as Laser Protection Adviser, with duties across ultrasound, lasers, UV/blue light and related EMF areas.

The role includes training staff, providing specialist advice, and contributing to service development and translational techniques with clinical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of NIR modalities.
• Experience acting as laser protection adviser (LPA).
• Ability to train and teach other staff in NIR topics.
• Proficiency in radiation safety concepts and QC/dosimetry procedures.
• Collaborative work with clinical colleagues across sites.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of NIR equipment QA and optimisation programme.
• Provide training and teaching in NIR Physics to staff and trainees.
• Collaborate with clinical colleagues and sites to meet best practice obligations.
• Undertake research and development activities to improve service quality.
