Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in Southampton is seeking a Clinical Scientist - Radiation Protection to join our Medical Physics team at Southampton General Hospital. The post is permanent and based on 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility between full-time and part-time arrangements.

We welcome HCPC registered professionals with strong knowledge of ionising and non-ionising radiation protection, radioactive materials management and diagnostic radiology physics.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered staff with good knowledge of ionising and non-ionising radiation protection.
• Experience in management of radioactive materials and diagnostic radiology physics.
• The role is not open to training positions.

Responsibilities

• To assist the Radiation Protection Adviser in the provision of ionising radiation protection services to the Trust and other clients.
• To assist the Laser Protection Adviser with the provision of non-ionising radiation protection services to the Trust and other clients.
• To support the work of the Medical Physics Experts by participating in X-ray QA surveys and optimisation projects for local and client sites.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team. We are seeking applications from HCPC registered staff with a good working knowledge of ionising and non-ionising radiation protection, management of radioactive materials and diagnostic radiology physics. The role is not open to those looking for training positions.

The role supports the the use of ionising and non-ionising radiation across the organisation to enable safe and effective treatment and diagnosis for patients, and ensure staff safety.

The post reports to one of the senior team within the Radiation Protection Group in Medical Physics.
