About the role

  • As a Technical Delivery Advisor within Business Field Operations & Solutions, you will play a key role in the planning, scheduling and coordination of technical field engineering activity across BT's network and customer estate.

  • This is a technical operational role requiring an understanding of telecommunications, network infrastructure, field engineering and site-based delivery.

  • You will work closely with Field Engineers, Openreach (OR), Network teams, customers, suppliers and other delivery partners to ensure engineering activity is correctly planned, appropriately resourced and delivered safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.

  • The role will support a range of activities including mobile network connectivity, CSG installations, Box Swaps, network migrations, Space & Power requirements, equipment installations and upgrades, as well as field activity across products such as Phone Kiosks, Street Hubs and other BT infrastructure.

  • You will need to understand the technical and physical requirements of the work being planned, including site constraints, equipment specifications, access requirements, engineering skills, power requirements and the configuration and integration of equipment into the mobile network.

  • You will be expected to take ownership of activity from planning through to completion, proactively identifying risks, resolving issues and ensuring that customers and stakeholders have accurate and timely information.

What you will be doing

Technical Planning & Scheduling

  • Plan and schedule technical field engineering activity across BT products, services and network infrastructure.

  • Coordinate engineering activity associated with mobile network sites, connectivity, CSG installations, Box Swaps, migrations, upgrades and other network activities.

  • Work with Openreach (OR) to coordinate the delivery of connectivity to mobile sites and other network locations.

  • Review technical requirements and ensure the appropriate engineering resource, skills, equipment and information are available before work is scheduled.

  • Understand equipment specifications and site requirements, including Space & Power requirements, when planning engineering activity.

  • Consider how equipment will be installed, configured and integrated into the wider mobile network when coordinating field activity.

  • Schedule work across products and infrastructure including Phone Kiosks, Street Hubs and other field-based assets.

  • Manage engineer appointments, site access, permits, keys, landlord/site-provider requirements and other dependencies required to enable successful delivery.

Field Delivery

  • Work closely with Field Engineers and delivery teams to ensure jobs are correctly planned and contain all information required for successful completion.

  • Ensure engineers have the appropriate skills, equipment, access and technical information before attending site.

  • Monitor work through the delivery lifecycle and proactively identify jobs or sites that are delayed, blocked or at risk.

  • Investigate failed or unsuccessful visits and identify the root cause and appropriate corrective action.

  • Coordinate changes to planned activity where technical, resource, access or customer requirements change.

  • Support the resolution of issues arising during field delivery and ensure appropriate escalation where required.

Operational Management

  • Manage a high volume of concurrent engineering activities while maintaining focus on customer commitments and operational priorities.

  • Monitor delivery against agreed timescales and performance measures.

  • Identify emerging capacity, resource or delivery constraints and take appropriate action.

  • Maintain accurate information across relevant operational systems and planning tools.

  • Ensure changes to appointments, access arrangements, site requirements and delivery plans are communicated promptly.

  • Take ownership of issues through to resolution rather than simply passing them between teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong working relationships with Field Operations, Network, Openreach, customers, suppliers and other delivery partners.

  • Act as a key point of contact for planning and scheduling queries.

  • Communicate clearly with engineers and stakeholders regarding technical requirements, delivery expectations and changes to planned work.

  • Manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations while maintaining focus on successful delivery.

  • Escalate risks and issues appropriately and provide clear information to support decision making.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve planning, scheduling and field delivery processes.

  • Challenge inefficient or manual processes and contribute to improved ways of working.

  • Use operational data, reporting and systems to identify trends, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Support the introduction of automation, digital tools and AI-enabled processes where appropriate.

  • Create and maintain process documentation and guidance where required.

  • Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues to improve consistency and capability across the team.

Essential Skills/Experience

Technical / Engineering

  • Experience in telecoms, mobile networks, network infrastructure or a closely related technical field engineering environment.

Planning & Delivery

  • Experience of planning, scheduling and coordinating field engineering activities and technical resource across multiple concurrent activities.

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical information, including equipment specifications, site requirements, connectivity, power and installation requirements, and translate these into clear delivery requirements.

  • Experience of BT/EE mobile network or Openreach environments.

  • Experience of CSG installations, CSG Box Swaps, RAN activity, mobile site connectivity or network migrations.

  • Experience of Space & Power planning, including understanding the power and physical requirements associated with network equipment.

  • Experience of equipment installation and/or configuration, including understanding how equipment integrates into a wider mobile network.

  • Experience working with OCS, SFS, SAP, BT Site Tracker or similar planning/workflow systems.

  • Experience managing site access, permits, landlord requirements or third-party access providers.

  • Experience working in a high-volume operational environment with customer and delivery commitments.
