Job summary

Advance TRS is seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure LAN/WAN, IP/MPLS and cyber security solutions within complex rail environments. Flexible/hybrid UK-based role.

The successful candidate will produce engineering design documentation, run design reviews and coordinate interfaces with signalling, SCADA and operations, with clear career progression in a growing rail telecoms team.

Qualifications

• Proven network design experience within rail, transport or other critical infrastructure sectors.
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, IP/MPLS, routing, switching and network security.
• Experience producing engineering design documentation.
• Understanding of systems engineering and design assurance processes.
• Cisco CCNA level knowledge or above.
• Excellent stakeholder and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, resilient LAN/WAN and IP/MPLS networks.
• Produce technical specifications, architecture drawings and design documentation.
• Support design assurance, compliance and formal design reviews.

Our client is a leading provider of rail telecoms and network infrastructure solutions, delivering mission-critical communications systems across major UK rail projects.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure operational telecoms, data network and cyber security solutions within complex rail environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, resilient LAN/WAN and IP/MPLS networks.
• Produce technical specifications, architecture drawings and design documentation.
• Support design assurance, compliance and formal design reviews.
• Coordinate interfaces with signalling, SCADA, M&E and operational systems.
• Support system integration, testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure designs meet safety, cyber security and project requirements.
