Job summary

Nextens seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own meaningful parts of a tax and compliance platform used daily by professionals in the Netherlands.

You will design and deliver robust software, make sound technical choices, and elevate the platform's quality, reliability, and maintainability. You will join Team Fiscal, collaborating with domain experts and product owners to translate evolving fiscal requirements into trusted software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of hands‑on software development experience with C#, .NET, Azure, and modern web technologies.
• Strong quality mindset including testing, refactoring, code reviews, and clean architecture.
• Interest in using AI‑assisted development tools as part of daily work.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Collaborative mindset with domain experts and product owners.
• Fluent English; reading Dutch texts is helpful.
• Commitment to writing maintainable, well‑tested code.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve core modules for tax filing and compliance.
• Use modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and quality.
• Develop and improve back-end and front-end components, APIs, and integrations for a scalable platform.
• Contribute to new features and innovations, including external integrations.
• Work with domain experts and product owners to translate regulations into software.
• Improve engineering quality through testing, refactoring, code reviews, and mentoring.
