Job summary

GBV Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a growing tech team focused on modernising a large-scale platform. This hands-on role emphasizes clean, maintainable code and architectural input beyond the backlog.

You'll work in a Microsoft-focused environment, building new features, optimising SQL Server queries, and guiding design decisions while collaborating with experienced engineers on complex problems.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with C# / .NET and SQL.
• Experience with RESTful/web-based applications and distributed architectures.
• Hands-on in Azure, CI/CD and modern development practices.
• Proficient in writing performant SQL queries and data access patterns.
• Experience with automated testing and clean architecture principles.

Responsibilities

• Build and modernise applications using .NET 8+ and SQL Server.
• Design solutions across distributed and event-driven architectures.
• Improve search, data processing and application performance.
• Modernise existing platform components and cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and design reviews.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to solve complex problems.
