Job summary

Severfield UK Limited at Dalton, Thirsk site seeks a Senior NDT Inspector to lead all NDT activities during shifts, ensuring high standards of quality, safety and compliance across UT, MPI, PT and VT methods.

You will interpret BS EN ISO, AWS and ASME standards, review inspection reports, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve issues. A strong safety and continuous improvement mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Certifications listed in the vacancy: PCN MPI, PCN UT, CSWIP welding inspector; leadership and technical capabilities expected.
• Strong ability to interpret standards (BS EN ISO, AWS, ASME) and inspect to requirements.
• Experience in leading NDT teams and mentoring junior inspectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all NDT activities during the shift.
• Interpret and apply standards and specifications (BS EN ISO, AWS, ASME).
• Perform and oversee NDT methods: UT, MPI, PT, VT; ensure report quality and traceability.
• Review and validate inspection reports for clarity and traceability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior inspectors and technicians.
• Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained.
• Collaborate with production, quality and engineering to resolve issues.
• Support investigations, audits and root cause analysis related to quality concerns.
• Champion safety, quality and continuous improvement.
