Job summary

Expleo is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Technical Authority to drive the Naval Mission System capability. You will oversee architectures, requirements databases and interface control, coordinating across suppliers and internal teams.

The role emphasizes governance, lifecycle management, and disciplined design in a defence environment. The position starts with remote work and occasional onsite workshops at Expleo offices in Preston, Derby or Bristol, requiring strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• Significant systems engineering experience on complex defence/marine/aerospace programmes.
• Experience generating and maintaining system architectures for complex integrated systems.
• Experience with requirements management and DOORS or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Generate, develop and maintain mission system architectures across views (functional, logical, physical, interfaces).
• Develop and maintain System Definition Documents (SDDs) with scope, functions and interfaces.
• Establish and manage requirements databases with ownership, status and evidence.
• Maintain traceability from requirements to verification and acceptance evidence.
• Develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface data across electrical, data, communications, mechanical and software domains.
• Coordinate interface definition and resolution across suppliers and installation teams.
• Support configuration management and engineering change control, including impact assessment and baseline control.
• Use DOORS, Windchill and Visio to maintain controlled technical information and design traceability.
• Support PLM activities ensuring artefacts and data stay aligned throughout lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews, governance meetings and acceptance sessions.
