Job summary

Siemens Healthineers seeks a Magnet Engineer (Senior/Principal) to advance superconducting magnet systems for MRI scanners. You will design, build, and optimise high-performance magnets, applying electromagnetism and experimental physics within a collaborative team of around 10–15 experts.

Initially at Eynsham, then a permanent move to our £250m Bicester facility. Hybrid working with three days onsite supports delivering manufacturable MRI magnet solutions for patients worldwide.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physics or related field; Master's preferred for candidates with limited hands-on experience.
• Strong understanding of electromagnetism and physics.
• Experience with superconductivity and magnetism concepts.
• Experience with magnetic field measurement or experimental work.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for superconducting magnets used in MRI systems.
• Apply electromagnetic field theory and perform field calculations (analytical and FEA).
• Work hands-on with magnetic materials, superconducting wire, coil winding and magnet assembly.
• Support practical build and test activities, including magnetic field measurement and characterisation.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues including quench behaviour and system-level problems.
• Contribute to risk management activities (FMEA, DFMA).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable magnet solutions.
