Senior Motor Claims Handler

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 per annum, negotiable

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Job Type: Permanent

You will apply your knowledge and experience to pro-actively manage claims through to settlement, including negotiation and management of complex claims matters. An understanding of motor claims liability, motor insurance processes and end-to-end customer claims process is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Handling allocated claims to a high standard, including overall assessment of losses and reserves, and negotiation with counterparties to achieve timely settlements.
2. Managing large, complex, and disputed claims on behalf of the claims team.
3. Identifying and reporting new trends or changes in the behaviour of a claim’s portfolio.
4. Managing complaint cases within regulatory guidelines.
5. Working with TPAs to help with referrals and cases over their authority limits.
6. Identifying and delivering opportunities for claims savings, both on an individual claims and strategic basis.
7. Identification and execution of commutation and buy back opportunities, including the negotiation of deals with counterparties.
8. Providing technical assistance for the due diligence process for new acquisitions.
9. Providing input and ideas for ongoing improvements to claims and other related processes, working in partnership with internal and external teams.

Skills

1. An excellent level of claims handling technical experience and knowledge, providing consistently high-quality claims handling.
2. Strong negotiation skills, with experience in negotiating complex issues with counterparties, including the ability to lead formal mediations, resulting in successful settlements.
3. Skills in complaint resolution.
