Job summary

The Nottingham Building Society is seeking a Specialist Senior Mortgage Underwriter to assess and approve standard and complex mortgage applications within delegated authority. You will manage specialist cases, act as a technical expert, mentor colleagues and help drive policy development and underwriting quality.

Reporting to the underwriting leadership, you will build broker and customer relationships and contribute to continuous improvement across specialist lending while staying up-to-date

Qualifications

• Extensive mortgage underwriting experience with strong expertise in credit risk, affordability assessment and responsible lending.
• Ability to handle complex and specialist lending cases including non-standard income and adverse credit.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements including MCOB, Consumer Duty, AML and Data Protection.

Responsibilities

• Assess and approve residential mortgage and further advance applications within delegated authority.
• Manage complex and specialist cases including self-employed applicants and Extraordinary Borrower (EOB) scenarios.
• Review affordability, creditworthiness, property security and customer circumstances to make informed lending decisions.
• Refer cases outside mandate or risk appetite appropriately.
