Job summary

The Nottingham Building Society is seeking a Specialist Senior Mortgage Underwriter to assess and approve residential mortgage applications within delegated authority, delivering fair and timely outcomes for customers and brokers.

You will manage specialist cases including non-standard income, adverse credit and Extraordinary Borrower scenarios, acting as a technical expert while mentoring colleagues and supporting underwriting policy development.

Qualifications

• Extensive mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk and affordability.
• Familiarity with MCOB, Consumer Duty, AML and data protection.
• Ability to assess complex borrower circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Assess and approve residential mortgage applications within delegated authority.
• Manage complex and specialist cases, including non-standard income and adverse credit.
• Review affordability, creditworthiness and property security.
• Refer cases outside mandate or risk appetite.
