The Nottingham Building Society is seeking a Specialist Senior Mortgage Underwriter to assess and approve standard and complex mortgage applications within delegated authority, delivering fair, timely, and well-reasoned outcomes for customers and brokers.

You will manage a portfolio of specialist cases, including complex income structures, adverse credit and non-standard properties, act as a technical expert, mentor colleagues and contribute to policy development and underwriting standards.

Qualificações

• Extensive mortgage underwriting experience with credit risk, affordability and responsible lending expertise.
• In-depth knowledge of complex residential lending including non-standard income and adverse credit.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (MCOB, Consumer Duty, AML, data protection).
• Proven ability to assess complex customer circumstances and make clear, balanced lending decisions.
• Confidence managing policy exceptions and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Assess and approve residential mortgage and further advance applications within delegated authority.
• Manage complex and specialist cases including self-employed, adverse credit and non-standard properties.
• Review affordability, creditworthiness and property security to inform lending decisions.
• Refer cases outside mandate or risk appetite as appropriate.
